Promotes coffee consumption by educating customers; sells coffee and coffee grinding and brewing equipment, accessories, and supplies; prepares and serves a variety of coffee drinks, along with pastries and cookies.

Job Description

Key Job Functions

  • Welcomes and greets every customer as they enter the outlet
  • Determine customer needs and appropriately suggest product with every customer to enhance service and meet sales goals
  • Follows Sonesta Service standards with every guest interaction
  • Prepares PJ's Coffee Cafe beverages according to standards in F&B SOP Manual
  • Follows store policy and procedures for operational flow
  • Follows health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products
  • Itemizes and totals check for service or totals takeout transaction on cash register and accepts payment
  • Follows Hotel's cash handling procedures and cash register policies
  • Stocks and replenishes merchandise and rotates stock
  • Performs cleaning tasks as assigned in daily opening and/or closing duties to maintain cleanliness standards
  • Maximize revenue and contribute to store sales goals by reducing waste and improving profits
  • Observes safety and security procedures; determines appropriate action beyond guidelines
  • Reports potentially unsafe conditions
  • Build solid relationship with your Colleagues
  • Treats colleagues with respect and dignity
  • Treats people with respect; keeps commitments; inspires the trust of others; works with integrity and ethically; upholds organizational values.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. The employee is expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description.

Qualifications and Skills

A candidate for this position must possess the following applicable knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate and provide applicable examples to support his/her competency.

  • Track record of delivering exceptional guest or client experience
  • Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time for training and safety purposes, and when interacting with guests and associates.

  • Ability to operate in MICROS Food & Beverage Management Operating System
  • Must be available to work various shifts including nights, week-ends and holidays
  • Valid ServSafe Food Handler Certificate required


Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
