**Description**

**SUMMARY:** Attends to the operation and maintenance of the New Orleans Historic Train Garden within the Botanical Garden.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** (OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED):

* Operates G-scale trains on weekends and during special events.

* Set-up and breakdown for birthday parties.

* Greet guests and hands-on activities for guests.

* Performs minor repairs and maintains equipment and track on a regular basis.

* Report any problems to Train Master or supervisor.

* Research and report to supervisor any supplies needed for operation and maintenance.

* Implement start-up and close procedures.

* Must have a working knowledge of model trains of all gauges and knowledge of the history of the Train Garden to answer any visitors questions.

* Report any Security problems at once to Train Master, supervisor and Park Security

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:**

Must know how to operate Revolution and Train Engineer Control Systems to operate Train Garden.

**Physical Requirements:**

The ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or a lesser amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Will involve standing most of the time but may involve walking or sitting for brief periods of time.

Sitting or standing, bending, stooping, and the ability to carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Ability to collect and analyze numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions and ability to determine the time, place and sequence of operations or actions required.

Ability to communicate and express and exchange ideas clearly.

Ability to read, record, and/or type data quickly and accurately required.

**Environmental/Working Conditions:**

Working long hours between breaks or meals, in a manner consistent with applicable law, required.

Must be flexible and available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Ability to work under and handle stress in an appropriate manner.

May be exposed to high, medium, or low noise intensity.

Constant contact with co-workers and guests required.

Exposure to fluctuations in temperatures will be required.

Exposure to outdoor conditions will be required.
