Job Description

Title: Material Handler Reports To: Material Lead / Prototype Build Manager
Department: Manufacturing FLSA Status: Exempt
Pay Band/Salary:
Location: Slidell, LA

Job Summary:
The Material Handler coordinates/execute incoming and outgoing movement and storage of raw materials, finished products and parts. Additional activities include receipt of material and documentations, transfer of ownership, coordinate Material Review Board (MRB) shipments into ERP system and along with additional teammate(s). Individual compiles data on order volume, production schedules, forecasts, estimate future materials requirements, and shortages.

Essential Functions:
Performs manual and clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing and delivering a variety of materials, equipment and supplies.
Counts, weighs or measures incoming or outgoing items to compare identifying information and variety against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
Examines incoming shipments for damage or shortages and correspond with shipper to rectify.
Completes paperwork or forms required for documentation.
Determines method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates.
Prepares materials for shipping by weighing, packaging and stamping.
Prepares necessary shipping forms such as bills of lading.
Provide direction to other material handling personnel to include Teammates who executes utilizing plant equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage.
Supports execution of assembly activities

Job Requirements:

Education & Experience:
High School Diploma/GED required. 2-4 years' experience in a similar position. OR
Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience Knowledge

Background Prerequisites:
Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
Understanding of ERP
Computer Skills: ERP, Microsoft, Non-conformance s/w, Costpoint and/or PLEX Experience a Plus
May need to stand for long periods of time.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to understand and follow directions.
Considerable knowledge of manufacturing capabilities is required, and previous plant experience is preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently in a self-motivated environment
Ability to understand production schedules, forecasts, estimate future materials requirements, and shortages.
Forklift experience
