Opportunity: Research Associate/Assistant for Benthic Marsh Ecology Research, CWC

Coastal Waters Consortium Seeks Research Associate/Assistant for Benthic Marsh Ecology Research related to Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill.

Two research foci are (1) the microphytobenthos and associated pigments and (2) the subtidal benthic infauna associated with oiled/unoiled systems. Additional food web studies are planned. Specifically, primary skills in identification of benthic infauna are needed. Individuals should be capable of self-directed activities, developing and managing large data sets, working in marsh and laboratory situations, generating graphic materials and information for websites, and performing other duties in support of the research programs of Dr. Nancy Rabalais, Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON).

Special skills of interest additionally include:

  1. SCUBA diving
  2. Multivariate statistics
  3. GIS support

The term is up to three years, upon satisfactory job performance.
