Therapeutic Recreation Specialist

As a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, you improve quality of life utilizing everyday socialization and recreational activities in your patient's rehabilitation journey. Your work is crucial in the physical, social and emotional well-being of patients living with a disability or overcoming an injury or illness. Your Everyday

• Evaluate, develop, and implement individualized treatment plans following age-appropriate guidelines.
• Conduct community outings.
• Communicate and document all patient-related information in staffing and medical records.
• Provide education regarding modification of leisure activities.
• Perform discharge planning which includes recommendations and resources for continued participation in leisure activities.
• Maintain compliance and records all services performed on rehab van.
• Assist with development and revision of policies and procedures.
• Coordinate programs and supervise therapeutic recreation students.

The Must-Haves Minimum:

• BS in rehabilitation, recreation therapy physical education, music therapy, art therapy, drama therapy, horticultural therapy or psychology.
• 1 year experience in behavioral health care hospital.
• Heart Saver or Basic Life Support, Required. CPI, Required at or before Orientation.

Preferred: CTRS Certification
