The City of New Orleans is seeking a Hazardous Materials And Waste Management Professional for the Sewerage and Water Board. The position offers a salary of $95,181 annually and is located in New Orleans, LA.
This role involves professional, technical, and supervisory work in developing, coordinating, and implementing hazardous materials and waste management plans and projects for the Sewerage and Water Board. Key duties include performing specialized investigations and inspections of solid, liquid, and hazardous materials/waste facilities, and ensuring compliance with laws governing hazardous materials. The position also requires contract preparation, monitoring, and compliance relative to hazardous materials and waste management remediation, and organizing training programs for in-house staff on hazardous materials and solid waste issues and technology.
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, Information Technology, Geology, Chemistry, Biology, or related field, or a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. Additionally, either six years of professional construction or technical project management related experience, two years of which must include experience in solid, liquid, or hazardous waste management, environmental inspections, industrial remediation practices, or in a research and resources recovery program in a hazardous materials and/or solid waste program, or possession of a current Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) issued by the Project Management Institute and three additional years of project management experience earned after the receipt of a PMP Certification, two years of which must include experience in solid, liquid, or hazardous waste management, environmental inspections, industrial remediation practices, or in a research and resources recovery program in a hazardous materials and/or solid waste program.
Certifications and training required prior to the end of the probationary period include EPA RCRA Hazardous Generator Training, OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Training, DOT Hazardous Materials Training, Certified Asbestos Inspector (LDEQ) and Certified Lead Paint Inspector (LDEQ).
