Mgr, System Protection Support

Provides oversight and management of engineering services provided by RFOS, which support the field organizations across the entire system. The activities include managing people, finances, and other resources needed to maintain customer relationships, employee growth, revenue growth, system reliability, and system improvements.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

1. Provides administrative, management and technical oversight of engineering development of settings.

2. Manages group resources to achieve group maintenance goals, reliability and financial goals. Manages resources and budget activities to achieve strict compliance with Entergy's guidelines.

3. Provides operational support to Grids and Networks to improve customer satisfaction and reliability performance. Provides technical expertise to local jurisdictions on items.

4. Provides training and coaching for the work group to ensure all employees are familiar with Entergy's policies and procedures required to serve customers and comply with all applicable NERC compliance requirements. Drives adherence of other setting groups to NERC standards.

5. Manages support request, annual compliance tasks, and overall relay engineering 24/7 emergency response and support for all Grids and Networks across the system to support operations.

6. Serves in leadership role during emergency response and storm restoration efforts. Provides oversight of 24/7 engineering response to support operations.

7. Respond to relay-related regulatory compliance issues; Provide technical engineering expertise in developing responses to regulatory requests from FERC, NERC, SERC and other regulatory bodies.

8. Develop and provide processes and tools to improve cost, duration, and quality.

9. Collaborate with construction, commissioning and operations teams to ensure field-to-design alignment and successful system energization.

10. Participate in industry forums, serving as Entergy's Relay representative on national and industry committees.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

Bachelor's degree in engineering.

Minimum experience required of the position

5-8 years of experience with proven leadership capabilities or significant project management experience.

Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in the utility industry with experience in various engineering disciplines.

Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

Extensive knowledge of relay design and settings practices, standards, procedures and processes.

Thorough understanding of planning, project management, operations and/or construction.

Experience in managing/executing capital and/or O&M projects.

Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multi-projects simultaneously.

Capable of moving frequently between multiple tasks, while prioritizing conflicting priorities.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with superiors, colleagues and individuals inside and outside the Company. Sound analytical, problem solving and documentation skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills; team player. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, budgets, financial procedures, and property accounting.

ANSI Required

Professional Engineering license preferred.

Working Conditions/Essential Functions/Physical Requirements
