Objective:

This position is trained in and performs the duties of the marine Shore Tankerman Apprentice, Safety Observer, and in-plant Dock PIC/Operator positions.

• Exhibit professional conduct at all times when representing Team Services in any form or fashion.
• Must be able to adhere to all company policies, United States Coast Guard, and environmental regulations.
• Ensure that any and all federal and state required documents that must accompany the barges are on board and in proper order.
• Communicate with dock personnel and ensure that each person participating in the transfer of the product understands what the product is and how it should be transferred and protected.
• Must be able to occasionally work additional hours not to exceed 15 hours in any 24-hour period or more than 42 hours in a 72-hour period, except in an emergency or drill.
• Be stable under pressure and withstand the stress associated with the job, including discomfort, unpredictable weather, and potentially hazardous situations.
• Safely transports all needed PPE, connection tools and valve wrenches, fire extinguishers, food and water from vehicle to the dock.
• Communicates any unsafe conditions that create an unacceptable risk that cannot be mitigated to an acceptable level of risk prior to performing any task.
• Wears all required PPE required for task and cargo to be handled in accordance to company, customer and facility requirements.
• Conducts the pre-transfer conference in accordance with the USCG and for loading operations requests an initial flow at no more than those requested in the vessel oil transfer procedures.
• Connects hoses ensuring new gaskets and a full circle of bolts and aligns the system to load or discharge cargo.
• Makes rounds every 15 minutes to inspect pump, machinery and pipelines for leaks and cargo level in all tanks adjusting the flow as needed throughout the operation.
• Achieves the requested draft, quantity or stop gauge as requested by the customer for loading operations and empties the barge to satisfaction of the customer in discharge operations.
• Disconnects dock arm or hose and completes required paperwork once the transfer is complete.
• Closes all valves, hatches, picks up any remaining trash, and prepares the barge for sail.
• Initiates Stop Work Obligation if any unsafe conditions arise during the operation.
• May be assigned other duties as needed.
