Distribution Construction Manager

Manages all large distribution construction projects in the state with company and contractor resources. Manage workload, resources and budgets. Support employees with internal company applications, knowledge of company procedures/standards, pre-design, pre-construction meetings, engineering drawings, job site inspections, assessing/resolving unforeseen conditions during construction, overseeing that work conforms with current contracts, construction standards and a safe work environment. Manage distribution contract and bid process to support the safest and most cost effective contractors on the property.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage, direct and lead day-to-day operations of construction supervisors, operations coordinators, administrative assistants, Entergy Linemen and Line contractor employees.
  • Manage and match resources and budgets for compliance with company goals at local and state levels and assist in planning and scheduling construction projects. Provide input on capital improvement plans and budgets. Prioritizing large construction projects to meet customer commitments and Asset Management Reliability and Infrastructure goals. Interfaces closely with Major Accounts and Customer Service groups on large revenue, highway DOT projects.
  • Manage and oversee contracts between company and contractor providers. This includes performance, safety, RFP, Bid submittals/evaluations, ceiling limit management, specifications, pricing structure etc. Requires extensive interaction with Supply Chain, Legal, Safety, Training and Financial departments.
  • Act as liaison between construction department and other departments on all matters regarding construction activities involving Safety, Reliability and service delivery customer issues with staff, external customers and supporting organizations - including Engineering, asset planning, Transmission/ Substation Grid organization, distribution operations center, customer service centers, standards and procurement.
  • Ensure loss control Policy and safe work practices are understood and followed by all employees and contractors with a focus on target zero accidents. Maintain and enforce departmental rules and regulations in accordance with personnel rules, regulations, and policies. Perform employee evaluations. Provide the support, possible training, communications and direction to support a safe productive performance of distribution line contractors.
  • Provide the support, training, communications, and tools required to ensure the safe productive performance of subordinates while promoting positive morale, empowerment, and customer satisfaction. Resolve customer complaints on assigned construction projects. This position is responsible in Entergy's ICS as 'State Resource Section Chief' for major events and is key for responding to minor storm events. Coordinates state response for travel teams. Actively participate and serve as a voting member of the System Contractor Safety Council and Distribution Contractor SAB.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience.

Minimum experience required of the position

3 year operational supervisory/management experience with a degree or 6 years operational supervisory and/or management experience without a degree.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

Experience in managing/executing capital and/or O&M projects; Thorough understanding of procedures, programs, and standards; Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; Strong analysis and problem solving skills; Excellent verbal and written communications skills; Self-starter, independent worker, self-motivator; Strong computer skills.
