Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Provide specialized educational support as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for K-12 students in an engaging school environment located in New Orleans, LA. This full-time contract role spans the 2025-2026 school year, starting as soon as possible and concluding in May 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized instruction plans to support visually impaired students learning needs.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and specialists to create inclusive learning environments.
  • Utilize adaptive technology and specialized teaching methods to enhance accessibility and student engagement.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain detailed documentation in compliance with the Louisiana Department of Education standards.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Active Louisiana Department of Education (DOE) certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired is required.
  • Demonstrated experience working with visually impaired students across K-12 grade levels.
  • Knowledge of adaptive teaching strategies and assistive technology specific to visual impairments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with educators, families, and support staff.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and maintain accurate records in accordance with district policies.

Location and Schedule:

  • Position based in New Orleans, LA.
  • Full-time schedule, 35 hours per week: 7 hours daily Monday through Friday with a 30-minute unpaid lunch following the school calendar.
