Description:

The Painter position is responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing wellhead components, industrial equipment, and associated materials used in oil & gas wellhead service operations. This role ensures all painted parts meet company and customer quality standards, corrosion protection requirements, and safety specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces of wellhead equipment and parts (valves, flanges, spools, adapters, BPVs, trees, etc.) for painting, including cleaning, sanding, grinding, or blasting.
  • Select and apply appropriate primers, paints, coatings, and finishes per specifications, including corrosion-resistant and industry-rated coatings.
  • Mix paint coatings to required ratios and colors; maintain paint inventory and mixing records.
  • Inspect finished coatings for uniformity, adhesion, thickness, and defects; perform touch-ups and corrective work as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized painting area; properly store hazardous materials and dispose of waste following environmental and safety regulations.
  • Read and interpret job orders, paint specifications, safety data sheets (SDS), and work instructions to meet quality and compliance expectations.
  • Report damaged or defective parts to supervisors and coordinate rework or repair.
  • Work collaboratively with shop technicians, and supervisors to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Follow all company safety protocols, including PPE use, hazard communication, and confined space/lockout procedures when applicable.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in industrial or commercial painting, with experience painting oilfield or heavy-equipment components, is strongly preferred. Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics to perform the duties of the position.
  • Working knowledge of surface preparation techniques (e.g., sanding, wire-brushing, abrasive blasting) and paint/coating application methods (brush, roller, spray).
  • Ability to mix paint and coatings according to product technical data sheets (TDS).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to read job orders and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering a high-quality finish.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial shop and wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work scheduled shifts with overtime and callouts.
  • This role is based on our shop location and requires candidates to live within a 60-mile radius of Carriere, Mississippi.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Comfortable working around heavy equipment, in varying temperatures, and in conditions typical of industrial shops.
  • Must be able to wear respiratory protection and other PPE as required.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and submit to random screenings.

  • Strict adherence to all safety policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Participate in safety training programs and toolbox talks.
  • Maintain compliance with SDS guidelines for all paints and solvents used in the shop.
