Salary and Benefits:

Newly appointed Border Protection Officers will have access to recruitment incentives of up to $15,000 per year in designated locations. The annual salary for newly appointed officers ranges from $40,332 to $109,952 based on grade level, with locality pay varying by location. Experienced officers can earn additional overtime pay up to $45,000.

Qualifications:

To qualify for the GS-5 grade level, candidates must have:

• Three years of general work experience, or
• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college, or
• A combination of education and experience.

For the GS-7 level, candidates should have:

• One year of specialized work experience, or
• A bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement, or
• A combination of specialized experience and graduate-level education.

Citizenship, residency, and age restrictions apply. Additionally, candidates must complete a training program including a paid pre-academy orientation and a 101-day CBP Field Operations Academy.
