Description:

Scrum Master

Introduction
GavinHeath is partnering with a client in Colorado Springs, CO looking to add a Scrum Master to their team. The role is a 6-month contract position with the possibility of extension or full-time conversion.

*Hybrid - onsite 5 days every 2-week period*

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies and Kanban practices, ensuring quality through Definition of Ready (DoR) and Definition of Done (DoD).
  • Support Product Owners/Managers with backlog health, prioritization, and transparency.
  • Coach teams and leaders across engineering, PMO, marketing, and operations to adopt pragmatic agile practices-tailored to context, not dogma.
  • Stand up and refine team operating models (cadence, WIP limits, policies, boards, metrics).
  • Build and maintain delivery dashboards; translate cycle time, lead time, and throughput into actionable insights for executives.
  • Champion mindset shift during an ongoing merger; help integrate agile practices into teams previously unfamiliar with structured delivery.
  • Provide lightweight coaching and workshops for adjacent groups (Operations, Retail, Education) on agile principles and flow literacy.
Qualifications

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM, PSM, or PMI-ACP), ideally earned several years ago to demonstrate applied practice.
  • Executive-ready communicator-able to explain agile without jargon and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Servant-leader orientation; excels at coaching, influencing without authority, and building team trust.
Preferred:
  • Familiarity with Jira, Azure DevOps, and collaboration tools such as Miro (canonical toolchain to be confirmed).
  • Experience within financial services or other regulated industries.
  • Background supporting teams in merger, scaling, or organizational transformation contexts.
  • Exposure to scaled agile frameworks (SAFe, LeSS), applied pragmatically.
