About the Position
Pride Health is hiring a Medical Assistant to support our client's medical facility in Slidell, LA (70458). This is a 3+ month contract assignment (convertible to permanent based on your work performance). and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organisation!
Specific Duties:
As part of a multi-disciplinary care coordination team:
- Addresses the total patient, inclusive of medical, psychosocial, behavioural, cultural and spiritual needs.
- Involves the individual patient and caregiver, as appropriate, in decision making.
- Facilitates communication and coordination among members of the care team.
- Provides patient care to include patient assessment before physician's/nurse practitioner's examination, serves as patient advocate/liaison by answering questions related to care and treatment, as appropriate, provides patient education and self-management support, implements physician orders (injections, prescription refills, diagnostic tests, referrals, etc.) and assists providers with procedures.
- Escorts patient to exam room
- Participates in team "huddles" and ensures the electronic medical record (EMR) is prepared for the clinic visit
- Triages phone calls to the appropriate department and enters the call into the EMR as a
- Telephone Encounter. After the call has been addressed, communicate with the patient and document in the Telephone Encounter.
- Maintains cleanliness of the patient care areas (exam rooms)
- Ensures exam rooms are always stocked.
- Cleans and disinfects instruments
- Performs clinic tasks as directed by the Clinic Manager.
- Assists Clinic Manager with the ordering and receiving of medical supplies and medications.
- Works closely with the Clinic Manager and Quality Manager to create and implement new clinic processes.
- Reviews all required education courses (live and online) and applies to daily clinic practice Maintains competency of clinical skills
- 1-3 Years of Clinic Experience Required
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
Medical Assistant Certification Preferred- Basic computer literacy required, with intermediate Excel skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology required
Must have qualifications/experience:
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- BLS for healthcare providers
Additional Information:
- Location: 1520 Gause Blvd, Slidell, LA 70458
- Job Type: 3+ months contract to hire
- Schedule: Monday through Friday
- Shift start & end times: Monday-Thursday 7:30-4:30/Friday 7:30-2:00
- Workdays per week: 5 days
- Pay Range: $18-23/hrs. on W2 without benefits
