This role offers vital respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support toboth in-patients and out-patients from neonatal to geriatric populations. Responsibilities include setting up, monitoring, and weaning Oxygen Therapy and Artificial ventilation. You will also draw, analyze, and report Arterial Blood Gases and EKGs, deliver intermittent therapy, and assist with artificial airway management, all in accordance with physician orders and established policies.

Education Requirements:

• Required: Associate's Degree
• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree

Work Experience: None required.

Certification Requirements:

• Required: Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice
• Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification to be obtained within 90 days
• Preferred: Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

• Competent computer skills for effective data entry and information retrieval.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to present information clearly and professionally.
• Proficiency with Windows applications and software specific to the role.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform both routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to established policies.
• Document all clinical information regarding patient care.
• Educate patients and co-workers about procedures and treatment plans.
• Conduct diagnostic procedures as directed.
• Provide care that meets the psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate for the patient's age.
• Adapt communication and behavior to connect effectively with different patient populations.

Physical and Environmental Demands:

Position requires significant physical strength, including lifting more than 100 pounds occasionally. Must maintain physical capabilities to perform essential functions, including stooping, bending, and reaching. This role entails prolonged periods of standing or sitting and involves travel between facilities. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties.

Exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and potentially infectious materials is routine, along with possible exposure to hazardous medications or waste.
