ABOUT US At The Hospice House, we believe every person deserves to spend their final days in a place that feels like home — warm, peaceful, and surrounded by love. For over 12 years, we have provided compassionate, dignified, end-of-life care entirely free of charge to families in St. Tammany Parish and surrounding Louisiana communities.
Funded solely by community donations, we are the only nonprofit residential hospice home of our kind in the parish.
--- THE ROLE We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Caregiver to join our small, close-knit team. This is more than a job — it is a calling. You will walk alongside patients and their families during one of life's most sacred transitions, providing hands-on care, emotional support, and a steady, loving presence.
--- WHAT YOU'LL DO -Provide comfort and dignity to all guests and their families to include but not limited to incontinence care, feeding, and proper positioning - Provide person-centered care that honors each patient's dignity and individual needs - Administer medications per hospice nurse orders and document accurately - Prepare meals, perform light housekeeping, and maintain a comfortable environment - Monitor patient condition and communicate changes to nursing staff promptly - Support families with compassion, cultural sensitivity, and bereavement resources - Maintain thorough documentation in compliance with HIPAA and hospice regulations - Participate in care plan meetings and ongoing training
--- WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - High school diploma or equivalent (required) - Minimum 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting (hospice, long-term care bed-bound, or home health preferred) - Experience with terminally ill patients and bereaved families (preferred) - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with patient mobility - Deep empathy, emotional resilience, and a strong ethical foundation
