Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
The incumbent performs clerical and administrative duties primarily at the St. Tammany Parish Health Unit within the Office of Public Health/Region 9 but may also be assigned to work in other parish health units in the region. The position may require sporadic or routine travel outside of the employee's domicile parish to perform clerical related duties.
This position coordinates complex administrative duties for service delivery of various programs, such as Reproductive Health, WIC, Immunizations, Vital Records, Tuberculosis (TB) Program, as well as Property Management. The position is also responsible for duties associated with property control, ordering supplies and equipment, purchasing and procurement, petty cash custodian, timekeeping and travel.
This position serves as the Local Registrar for Vital Records in the ST. TAMMANY Parish Health Unit.
The incumbent will also perform clerical duties such as but not limited to answering/addressing telephone and front desk inquiries, scheduling appointments, making reminder calls, using various electronic health records systems to document patient information, performing eligibility screening and insurance verification for services, and fee screening and collections.
Performance of these duties requires intermediate computer skills, as well as knowledge of organizational structure, agency administrative policies and practices, and program funding knowledge.
The incumbent, when directed, is required to respond to public health emergencies in a designated role at a specified site including but not limited to a Medical Needs Shelter or a Point of Dispensing site. Participated in emergency preparedness drills and activities are required.
Accepts and performs additional duties, which may not be listed, but are deemed essential for the smooth operation of the clinics and the agency.
