This role involves providing comprehensive respiratory care treatments, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support services to patients of all ages, from neonates to geriatrics. Responsibilities include set-up, monitoring, and weaning of oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation, as well as drawing, analyzing, and reporting arterial blood gases and EKGs. The position also requires delivering intermittent therapy and assisting with the changing of artificial airways, in accordance with physician orders and established policies.

Schedule: Nights, 7pm - 7am

Education Requirements

  • Required: Associate's Degree
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree

Work Experience

  • Required: None

Certifications

  • Required: Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice
  • Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification obtained within 90 days
  • Preferred: Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Proficient in computer skills and data entry
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with Windows-style applications and role-specific software packages
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures in line with established policies.
  • Document all clinical information regarding patient care.
  • Educate patients and colleagues on procedures and treatment plans.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures with precision.
  • Provide care that considers physical, psychological, educational, and safety needs appropriate to patient age.
  • Adapt communication and care techniques for diverse patient populations.

Additionally, stay updated on federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements pertinent to your responsibilities to ensure compliance at all times.

This position involves physical demands classified as very heavy work, requiring lifting and carrying objects up to and exceeding 100 pounds. Candidates must be comfortable using mechanical lifting devices and be able to stoop, bend, reach, and use manual dexterity consistently. Flexibility in work schedule (including nights, weekends, and holidays) is essential.

Expect exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous materials in a patient care environment. The role requires adherence to strict safety and compliance standards.
