Tax Accountant (Remote)

Ensemble Performing Arts Remote Full-Time

Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 annually

About the Role

We are looking for an attentive and detail-oriented Tax Accountant to join our Finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for federaland state income tax compliance, sales and use tax filings and foreign tax filings (VAT/GST). Experience with balance sheet reconciliations including the calculation of deferred tax assets/liabilities is required. You will be proficient in Avalara and NetSuite. This role will work closely with our external auditors to assist with income tax filings for partnership and C-Corp entities.

What You'll Do

Sales & Use Tax

Compile and analyze revenue and sales tax data from business locations across the country

Submit monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax data for filing through AvaTax software

Reconcile sales tax and use tax payable accounts on the balance sheet on a monthly basis

Administer and maintain the Avalara platform, ensuring accurate tax calculations and filing outputs

Manage state and local sales tax registrations, including new registrations and ongoing account maintenance

Income Tax Compliance

Provide financial information to external auditors for proper filing of Forms 1065 and 1120 for all entities

Track and maintain federal and state income tax correspondence, including payments for extensions and other taxes due

Compute and reconcile deferred tax accounts for our C-Corp entity and taxes payable for all partnership entities

Primary liaison with the external auditors for all tax requests

Other Tax Compliance

Compile and file required foreign tax reports, including but not limited to VAT and GST

Reconcile balance sheets associated with foreign tax accounts

Manage the organization and timely submission of business personal property tax filings across all locations

Operations & Process Improvement

Assist in developing and refining systems and processes to support compliance as the company grows

Provide ongoing back-office support to businesses across the portfolio as needed

Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy across tax and compliance workflows

What We're Looking For

Business degree in Accounting or Tax with 3-5 years experience

Must be proficient with balance sheet reconciliations

Experience registering, filing, and managing accounts for state and local sales tax and business personal property tax

Strong time-management, prioritization, and multitasking skills you're comfortable managing many concurrent deadlines

Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a low tolerance for errors in compliance data

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

A positive, resourceful attitude and good judgment when navigating ambiguous situations

Thrives in and drives change in a growth environment comfortable building processes where few exist

Works well as part of a team and collaborates effectively across departments

Working knowledge of UK VAT, Canadian GST & HST, or other international tax is a plus
