Assistant Cook

Bring your cooking talents and kitchen management skills as an Assistant Cook. You'll plan menus, prepare meals, and order inventory as you make a real difference in the lives of children, families, and staff.

This position offers a schedule of 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday, at our Ochsner Early Learning Center. This role includes approximately 20 hours per week supporting kitchen operations and 20 hours per week teaching and engaging with children in the classroom.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare nutritionally balanced meals for children and staff.
  • Keep an accurate inventory of supplies and place orders as needed.
  • Manage all aspects of prepping and preparing meals, as well as cleaning and complying with sanitation requirements.

Qualifications:

  • At least 18 years of age with a high school degree or GED required.
  • Relevant experience working in a licensed child care center, public school, or commercial kitchen is required.
  • Food Handlers permit or ServSafe certification according to state/local regulations required.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the employee to comply with all applicable federal, state, local, Bright Horizons', and client site requirements concerning immunizations, employment physical/screening, and health and safety training. If hired, you will work in person in an early education/preschool child care center to provide supervision, care, curriculum delivery and services per Bright Horizons' policies, procedures and guidance, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations, and in a manner that will ensure the safety of children in Bright Horizons care and the employee.

Compensation: $14.42 - $19.47
