This is a full-time, hourly position requiring the ability to work independently for approximately 40 hours per week. A professional, distraction-free home office during the workday is required. Core hours are between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, while allowing for some flexibility as determined by school needs. Residency Requirement: Resident of Pennsylvania; residents of other states will be considered on a case by case basis.

The Paraprofessional collaborates with teachers, special education staff, related service providers, and school leaders to provide instructional, behavioral, communication, and student engagement support that promotes academic success and student growth. This position reinforces teacher-directed instruction, implements individualized support strategies, and fosters student engagement, independence, and achievement in virtual and in-person learning environments. Assignments may include supporting general education classrooms, students with disabilities, or school-wide initiatives based on organizational and student needs.

Collaborates with teachers, special education staff, related service providers, and school teams to provide instructional, behavioral, communication, and functional support that promotes student success. Reinforces teacher-directed instruction through individual, small-group, and classroom support while encouraging student engagement, participation, and independence. Implements accommodations, modifications, behavioral strategies, and instructional supports as directed by teachers, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Section 504 Plans, behavior support plans, or other student support plans. Monitors student participation, engagement, behavior, and progress while communicating observations and concerns to instructional staff. Supports students in developing academic, executive functioning, self-advocacy, communication, social-emotional, and independent learning skills. Collects observational and progress-monitoring data to support instructional planning, IEP implementation, and student intervention efforts. Assists with the preparation, organization, and implementation of instructional materials, adaptive resources, and technology that support student learning. Collaborates with families, teachers, related service providers, and school staff to support consistent implementation of instructional and behavioral strategies. Supports students during state assessments, school events, community activities, field experiences, and other school-sponsored programs as assigned. Supports school-wide initiatives that strengthen student engagement and school culture, including orientation, mentoring programs, student events, community activities, state testing, and other organizational priorities. Builds positive relationships with students that foster belonging, engagement, confidence, and persistence in the virtual learning environment. Participates in professional learning, team meetings, and ongoing training to strengthen instructional practices and student support strategies. Maintains confidentiality and complies with all applicable school policies, federal and state regulations, and student privacy requirements. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no regular supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent AND one of the following: Sixty (60) semester credit hours from an accredited institution of higher education; OR Associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution; OR Successful completion of a state-approved paraprofessional assessment (if applicable). Experience working with school-aged children, students with disabilities, or families in an educational, youth-serving, or human services setting. All PDE required clearances for school-based personnel.

Minimum Required Skill Set: Ability to work effectively in a virtual learning environment. Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and school staff. Ability to support diverse learners while maintaining student engagement and encouraging independence. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom, and other educational technology platforms. Ability to learn and utilize student information systems, learning management systems, and other educational databases. Ability to maintain confidentiality while exercising sound judgment and professionalism. Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced virtual environment.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Human Services, Child Development, or a related field. Experience supporting students in a virtual, online, or blended learning environment. Experience working with students with disabilities, behavioral needs, communication needs, or diverse learning needs. Experience implementing instructional accommodations, behavioral supports, or intervention strategies. Knowledge of special education practices, Section 504, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), or Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Experience supporting student engagement initiatives, mentoring programs, or school-wide activities.

When office days are required, the noise level in the office is usually moderate (computers, printers, light foot traffic). This position will include limited travel and will include limited overnight travel. This is estimated to be less than 10% of the time. Travel will be required for meetings, community events, professional development and/or state testing.
